Sure Seal Premium Plus is one of our leading recommendations for natural-look protection on suitable porous
stone, including travertine. Luke recommends it based on practical experience, including the canola-oil test
described in the FAQs. It helps resist staining while preserving the stone’s appearance. Available at BFTO in 1 litre
and 4 litre sizes. Test your own stone first and follow the current label.
Aqua Mix Sealer’s Choice Gold is Adam’s leading natural-look sealer recommendation for suitable stone. Aquamix recommends Gold and Surface Guard where maximum stone protection is needed. It also performed well in the canola-oil test Luke describes in the FAQs. Confirm the exact stocked formulation and match it to the surface and likely spills. Use that version’s label for application, food-preparation areas and cure times.
An economical natural-look option for suitable porous stone, tile and grout. We will help you compare it with Gold according to your surface and likely spills. Aqua Mix recommends Gold or Surface Guard instead where maximum stain protection is required. Sealing does not prevent acid etching or surface wear.
Choose this when you want to deepen and highlight the colour of suitable unsealed natural stone, including
travertine. It enhances without adding a surface sheen and can also darken grout. Test on a spare piece first: the
change is not completely removable. Existing treatments must be assessed, and other sealers or finishes should not
be layered with it. Follow the product-specific instructions for removing excess and later maintenance.
Quick Drying Grout & Tile Sealer offers spray application for compatible surfaces. Slow Drying Grout, Tile & Stone Sealer allows more penetration time and is another option to discuss with Adam. Choose by the type of stone and application required. Speak to us in store to verify the right one. Check ventilation, overspray removal and the full cure time before exposing the area to water.
A penetrating sealer helps resist staining and buys you time to remove the contaminant before it can cause a problem. It does not replace the waterproofing system beneath a shower or balcony. Appearance, porosity, existing treatments and exposure all matter when choosing a product. Confirm pool-area suitability for the exact product and use.
Refresh the colour of suitable existing grout and seal it in one treatment. This single component water-based epoxy colourant needs clean, dry, properly prepared grout. It is a colour coating, not a repair for cracked or loose grout. Porous stone or tile edges may need protection against absorption during application. Preparation must suit the surrounding material; acid-sensitive stone requires a different cleaning approach.
Protect compatible porous cement grout against common food, dirt and grease stains while retaining its natural appearance. Apply to clean, dry grout and remove excess from tile faces. This product protects grout; it does not recolour it. Check the cure time before putting a shower back into use.
For cement-based grout residue on compatible acid-resistant tiles and surfaces. This acidic cleaner acts on cement residue, so the tile, grout age and finish must be checked first. Has potential to damage calcium-based stones. Do not use it as a general travertine or marble cleaner. Dilution depends on the product directions and the job; seek advice before treating an unfamiliar surface. Never mix it with other cleaners.
A non-acidic abrasive cream for suitable tile and stone surfaces. It helps remove surface residues, factory wax and
ground-in dirt through agitation. This is useful when the problem needs physical cleaning rather than an acidic
grout-haze treatment. Test the finish and cleaning pad first, especially on polished surfaces. Aqua Mix excludes
onyx and soft limestone.
A specialist stripper for compatible old sealers, coatings, paint, adhesive residues and some epoxy grout haze. It
needs time to soften the material before removal and rinsing. Identify the existing treatment first; do not assume
every penetrating sealer or colour enhancer can be stripped. Protect surrounding finishes, follow the ventilation
instructions and do not apply by spraying.
Tell us what the surface is, what was applied to it and when the mark appeared. A cement film, epoxy residue, oily
stain and etched patch need different approaches. For routine stone care, ask for a cleaner approved for your
particular stone and sealer.
White deposits can be associated with salts carried through porous materials by moisture. Cleaning the surface may
help, but repeated deposits call for investigation of the moisture source. Tell Adam whether the problem is new or
recurring and show us the whole area as well as a close-up.
A non-acidic product for removing and inhibiting efflorescence on compatible surfaces, with the manufacturer
favouring early-stage deposits. It is not a hard-water deposit remover and is not recommended on polished marble,
limestone or travertine because it may dull the finish. Existing sealing can reduce its inhibiting effect. Recurring
deposits may still need investigation of the underlying moisture source.
A specialist option for efflorescence, cement residues, grout haze and some other deposits on compatible masonry
and tiled surfaces. Its acid-replacement description does not mean it suits acid-sensitive stone. The manufacturer
excludes polished or finely honed marble or limestone and other acid-sensitive surfaces. Ask for a material check
before considering it for a natural stone job.
Spirit Efflorescence Off is a specialty cleaner for difficult deposits on suitable surfaces. Adam recommends discussing this heavy-duty commercial acid cleaner with an experienced professional. It is not a routine stone-care product. Do not use it on travertine, marble, limestone or terrazzo. BFTO’s preference is to supply this product to professionals who can assess the surface and follow the technical and safety directions.
For the installation stage, Efflock is a separate-brand additive used in compatible cement-based screeds, adhesives
and grout. Its manufacturer describes water repellency and control of moisture-driven salt movement. It is a
prevention product, not a cleaner for existing white deposits. Check the mix manufacturer’s compatibility
requirements and Efflock’s current dosing instructions.
A specialty cleaner designed for organic markings and staining. This product is a highly concentrated chlorinated detergent, suitable for eliminating mould, mildew, leaf marks, tannin marks and most stains originating from an organic source. Care must be used, as damage can occur if applied to incorrect or unsuitable surfaces. Speak to Adam in store for more detailed instructions on whether this product suits your needs.
Our two leading natural-look recommendations are Sure Seal Premium Plus and Aqua Mix Sealer’s Choice Gold. Luke favours Premium Plus and Adam recommends Gold. We can help match either product to your stone, finish, existing treatment and where it will be used.
We have tried several sealers ourselves. In one informal test on a grey stone Luke describes as a limestone-like marble, we let the sealer dry for about twelve hours, then left canola oil on the surface for around 10–20 minutes. The oil cleaned off both Premium Plus and Gold with no visible stain remaining. That positive result is one reason we recommend them. This was our own practical test on that stone, not a laboratory comparison or a guarantee for every surface. Follow the product’s full curing instructions.
A natural-look penetrating or impregnating sealer, such as Sure Seal Premium Plus or Aqua Mix Sealer’s Choice Gold, is intended to protect without deliberately deepening the colour or adding a surface coating. If you want richer colour and more visible natural variation, ask about Aqua Mix Enrich’N’Seal. It enhances suitable unsealed natural stone without adding a surface sheen and may also darken grout. Test a spare piece first: enhancement is not completely removable.
Do not use an acidic cement grout haze remover on marble or travertine. We need to identify the residue and stone finish first. Aqua Mix NanoScrub may suit some surface residues on compatible materials, while Aqua Mix Sealer and Coating Remover may suit certain old coatings or epoxy grout haze. They do different jobs and are not universal substitutes for an acid cleaner. NanoScrub excludes onyx and soft limestone; test polished finishes and pads before use. Ask Adam to check the material and residue before choosing.
No. A suitable penetrating sealer can help protect porous stone and grout against staining, but it does not replace
the waterproofing system beneath the tiles. A leaking shower or persistent moisture problem needs its cause
investigated. Choose a product approved for the intended wet-area use and follow its curing instructions before
water exposure.
Moisture can carry salts through porous materials and leave deposits at the surface. Aqua Mix Eff-Ex can help remove and inhibit efflorescence on compatible surfaces, particularly at an early stage, but recurring deposits can indicate an ongoing moisture source. It is not a hard-water deposit remover and is not recommended on polished marble, limestone or travertine because it may dull the finish.
Efflock is a separate installation-stage additive for compatible cement-based mixes; it is used to help reduce moisture-driven salt movement. It is not a cleaner for existing deposits. Show Adam the whole area and a close-up so we can help identify a suitable approach.
For Sure Seal Premium Plus, the manufacturer gives a broad coverage guide of approximately 8–40 m2 per litre, depending on porosity and application. Sure Seal’s selection chart lists roughly 12–20 m2 per litre for travertine as a general guide. These figures are estimates, not guaranteed coverage for your project. Tell us the area in m2 and show us the stone so we can allow for its absorbency and the required applications. Use the exact label for other products.
For Sure Seal Premium Plus, the manufacturer lists approximately 20–30 minutes as the normal drying time on marble or granite, and 24 hours curing for optimal protection. It also specifies at least 1–2 hours between coats. Surface dryness is not the same as full cure or permission for water exposure. Follow the current label for your stone and conditions. Aqua Mix products and other Sure Seal formulations have their own timings. Our informal twelve-hour test is not an application instruction.
Yes. Speak with our sealer gurus at Bargain Factory Tile Outlet. Bring a sample or a photograph and tell us whether you want natural-look protection, stronger colour, cleaner grout or help with a stain or white deposit. Ask for Adam at 20A Blaxland Road, Campbelltown NSW 2560, or call 02 4610 9945. We will help match the product to your surface and explain what to check before using it.
“I would highly recommend bargain factory tile outlet at Campbelltown. From the moment I walked in I was given top quality service.”
“Speak to Adam and Gary. Great service, excellent prices. Highly recommend.”
